Too Much Choice?

I am currently in a conversation with Associated Press and others at the Mobile Conference in Brussels and we are discussing whether user choice can be a frustration.

The point I have just made to the floor is that I believe the mental step change should be one above. I believe that user choice can be at a higher level to mean ‘whether they want choice in the first place’….Thats the first ‘user choice’ in my belief.

  • Thanks Mike - I really appreciate that.

    See you again I hope.

Point Taken! Ps you were definately the best Chair!!
  • I agree about letting people decide - however, although we have the ability to filter, I believe effective advertising should not condone the need to do so (as I mention here: http://www.jonathanmacdonald.com/?p=1101)

Hope you enjoyed the conference Mike - I am back in the UK now!

    Hey Jon

Im also attending the conference (near the back) you gotta hand it to the AP for tying something different. That being said doesnt the internet offer too much choice? my point being that we have the inate ability as human in a digital age to filter out what isnt relevant. Let the people decide i say!
  • Indeed - but my point is, only if they want to. That's the first choice, not the choices (or filters) themselves. They are the 2nd layer of choice.
  • My rule is simple.

Too much choice - is cured by allowing users to filter things.

    Job done.
