Hi Rob. It's not as simple as that actually – nor is a de-centralised organisation necessarily one that is directionless. Quite the opposite actually. Take Al Qaeda or Wikipedia for example. Both arguably have 'leaders' but both 'leaders' are essentially saying “you know what to do – now go and do it”.

As we have learned from nature (and throughout history of commerce), eventually open systems beat closed systems.

I'm interested to know how a leaderless organisation (the decentralised idea) can exist. Without a strong leader, surely the company will be, in general, directionless?
